Advocate Aayush Tiwari –

“Education is the milk of the tigress. Once you have drunk it, you cannot but roar.”

“शिक्षा बाघिन का दूध है। जो इसे पी लेते हैं, वो दहाड़ते हैं ।”

-Dr . B.R Ambedkar

This is the quote of the chairman of the drafting committee of the constitution – Dr BR Ambedkar and in the light the 75th Republic Day, On January 26, 2024, India will mark its 75th Republic Day, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution in 1950 in it’s light.

What is this roar? The mind educated in science will roar via technology, the mind educated in graphics designs will roar via modern arts and so on and so forth.

But what Dr Ambedkar refuted and burnt, ‘The Manu Smriti’, is the essence of modern administration of justice, after the 42nd Amendment Act ( Also known as the mini constitution) as it intertwined rights and duties together deploying it’s ancient code for the administration of justice.

धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah” – The one who protects the law, the law protects him/her back is the central theme defining the co relation of the Fundamental Rights with the Fundamental Duties. This golden statement is articulated in none other than thr Manu Smriti and marks a strange co relation between the Fundamental Rights( Part 4, Article 12-35) and the Fundamental Duties( Part 5, Article 51(a)).

Nevertheless a few surveys are indicative of an identification of a serious problems. On the basis of various surveys it surfaces that 99% of the surveyed youths proactive on their stand related to Manu Smriti could not answer the difference between the Republic and the Democratic. Our Preamble declares Bharat to be a ‘Democratic Republic’ so if a question is raised why not the democracy day is as festive in India as the republic day, how many will be clear with the difference?

If the Re-Public means ‘Re’- Representing Public, i.e: representing the public then Democracy’s most famous interpretation by Abraham Lincoln “By the people, for the people of the people” also resonate closer. But if a clarity on such basic principles of the social fabric is not clear than how will the education roar? Then the roaring will be confined to strikes, burning books, hate speeches and what not.

For the betterment of the nation education that really is the milk of the tigress must be breast feed by the tigress only. This tiger and tigress are the legal awareness and legal education taught in a relatable way so that before taking firm stands, a profound understanding of Jurisprudence diffuses into the blood flowing in the nation builder’s veins.
