While addressing the Alumni Meet, IIT Kanpur Senior Scientist Prof. Sameer Khandekar suffered a heart attack. The people present understood that he was getting emotional but there was a stir as soon as he fell. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was a professor and also served as Dean of Student Affairs. Senior Scientist in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. Khandekar (55) is survived by his wife Pradnya Khandekar and son Pravah Khandekar besides his parents.
Pro. Khandekar’s son Pravah is currently studying at Cambridge University. Only on his return did Prof. Sameer’s last rites will be performed. His body is currently kept in the institute’s health center. He was also an alumnus of IIT Kanpur. Pro. Khandekar also has eight patents in his name.
Pro. Khandekar was born on 10 November 1971 in Jabalpur. He did his BTech from IIT Kanpur in 2000 and PhD from Germany in 2004. After this, he joined IIT in 2004 as Assistant Professor. Associate Professor in 2009, Professor since 2014, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2020. In 2023, he received the responsibility of the post of Dean of Student Affairs. Pro. Khandekar also actively participated in social programs. He is Prof. He has also been associated with the Shiksha Sopan Ashram run by HC Verma.

Speaking of health, Prof. Sameer’s face began to turn colorful. At first people thought that he was getting emotional but then as soon as the reality was known, he was taken to cardiology in a hurry. Pro. Khandekar had a cholesterol problem in 2019. His medicines were on. Pro. HC Verma said that two days ago on Wednesday, Prof. Khandekar had come to Sopan Ashram and taught the children the rules of science. Pro. Khandekar’s death has shocked every scientist and those who knew him.
